Envy Away :)

For too long now I have been suffering with serious purse envy… My two closest friends, Lynne and Robyn, have these gorgeous purses that come out every time we have coffee, go for dinner, pay for parking… etc etc.

My purse was alright… Plain black pleather, nothing fancy and actually not quite big enough (only 5 card spaces!) So I have been on the hunt for a new purse, spurred on by a bit of need and a bit of jealousy ;) I’m a big enough person to admit the jealousy! (more…)

No Comments Cash or Account?

Article written by the brilliant on the 11 Aug 2010 in Girly Stuff

For years I never had accounts at shops. First of all I was too young to get and then I kept telling myself that it would be dangerous and then eventually I caved and got my first account so I could get credit rating… Boy oh boy was this an eye opener, but in a good way :)

For most people an account is completely safe and logical. There are people out there who should avoid accounts and credit cards like the plague – “Danger Will Robinson, Danger!!!” – because of a complete lack of thinking things through. I did worry that I would be one of those people, but apparently I can control my impulse shopping to a certain degree! In fact, having accounts has opened me up to whole new world and made my shopping experiences even better!

No Comments It’s a shoe thing…

Isn't it lovely...

A few years ago, when my brother moved out of the family home, I did what any girl would do… I claimed one of his now free cupboards and filled it with my shoes! Every girl should have the opportunity to have their very own shoe cupboard. I actually panicked when my brother contemplated moving back because I honestly didn’t know where I would put my shoes!

My love affair with shoes began quite early, but I didn’t have many opportunities to buy or wear great shoes as a teenager. This changed slowly through university and then when I got my first job in an office… I have to admit that maybe I have a bit of a problem, but I don’t really intend to do anything about it ;)

The office had a group of girls that would spend at least one lunch hour a week off at the shops, looking for sales and new factory shops (well that’s how I remember it… maybe we weren’t THAT bad). We really did do quite a bit of shopping and it flicked a switch in my head and I went into full shoe-loving mode.

I bought every kind of shoe… bright colours, thin stilettos, chunky heels, classic black heels, mary-janes, fun patterns, hooker boots, running shoes, cute sandals, everyday pumps, ugg boots. You name it and I probably have it in some form.

Now you may raise your eyebrows or even laugh at my little obsession, but shoes are actually the perfect comfort buy. It was the film, In Her Shoes, that explained it perfectly. When a woman feels down, she so often wants to buy something, none of us really know why but it can really make us feel

better. So when comfort shopping it is really important to buy the right thing. Chocolate or something sweet may make you feel better for a short time but afterwards you will probably feel guilty and fat. Clothes are dangerous because when you are down and you try something on that doesn’t fit properly it will most likely make you feel fat and ugly. A shoe will never make you feel guilty, fat or ugly. Your legs will always look good in a pair of heels and if a shoe doesn’t fit it isn’t because you are fat, it’s because the cut isn’t right for your foot. It is all the shoe’s fault! A pair of shoes is the perfect comfort buy.

Handbags are also excellent for a comfort buy… but that’s a different story ;)
